Weekly Update – 6th April
Toooot toot-toot-toot toooot
A very warm welcome to Rev Claude, who was licensed at St Paul’s on the 24th March and I suspect hasn’t had a chance to sit down since as she’s been visiting groups within both parishes, meeting the local community whilst out walking Buddy, and has had numerous meetings including two PCCs!!!
Our PCC meeting was on Monday and we enjoyed a wonderful curry curtesy of Rev Claude (she can stay!). Below is a (very) brief synopsis.
Accounts – the Finance Policy presented by the Finance Committee was agreed. The Annual Accounts were discussed and approved and the appointment of our Independent Examiner confirmed. After 8 years Jess is stepping down as our bookkeeper, our thanks to Jess for all she’s done. Anyone know a bookkeeper?
Fabric – an update of works noted in and carried out, following the Quinquennial Inspection was presented. There is water penetration into Vestry, a survey of the roof has been completed and specification obtained with cost estimated of £21k to replace. To go out to tender.
Social Committee – Lent Talents: Lent Soup Lunches have raised over £365.50 to split between St Nicholas and Alongside Africa. Samuel D and Jackie have been making items to sell after a service. Arts & Crafts Exhibition launched. Need to get act in gear for Maundy Thursday!
Easter Services – Maundy Thursday Supper followed by JAHFA Vigil. Good Friday Reflection at 2pm. Film on Holy Saturday at 3pm (Jesus of Nazareth – Robert Powell). Easter Sunday Oasis Communion at 10am.
APCM – 18 May 2025. Retirements of committee members means there are two positions vacant. Anyone want to join?
And now for a reminder of dates coming up…
May 2-4th – Arts & Crafts Exhibition (details in the foyer)
May 31st – Beer and Bangers (this is a date change)
June – Photo Exhibition
July 6th – Bishop Rose presiding
Of course there’s many more, so do keep an eye on the notice sheet each week.
Can you feel it too, the change in the air? I think the clocks moving to BST last week helps, but the sun is shining, the flowers are coming up (even in my garden), I feel a lightness in my step that wasn’t there before and I’m looking forward to the next step of St Nicholas as we journey with Rev Claude.
Happy April
