Weekly Update – 20th July
A picture speaks 1000 words.
Sunday the 6th of July, Bishop Rose attended St Nicholas to kick off the 50th birthday celebrations. Fifty years since St Nicholas Allington was built, consecrated and opened. Much has happened in the church’s life since that time and there were some in attendance at that very first church service and were at church that day.
As we all reflect, perhaps on the last 5 years, I wonder if we plan for the future and if we do, how far in the future do we plan? Teachers use to be able to take early retirement and I had planned to open up a non-profit business with two other parents who had additional needs children, in order that our children, when they finished in education at the age of 25, would have somewhere to go and something to do.
In 2015 at Spring Harvest a lady in the prayer ministry prayed over me. Up until this day, I have no idea what she said as it was too loud in the arena. Like the invisible thread in a string of pearls, something shifted in my life. Christ became more visible to the single pearls that were my plans. My aim is to let go and to let God, in my personal life, my life as a minister and in the life of the church.
I wonder if you will allow Christ to be that invisible thread in your life? If you do, know that in the stresses and strains, joy and happiness, dark and anxious moments, laughter and peace, He holds the invisible thread. It’s up to us if we choose to hang our pearls on it.
