St Nic’s Weekly Update – 7th June
As we all continue on our individual journeys and collectively as church family, the following people have been more a part of my journey to St Nicholas and St Paul’s than I realised.
John Ortberg. I was given a book to read by my vicar called
“All the Places to Go,” which I read twice, just for good measure. I later came across Andrew Ollerton. Some of you know him from Scripture Union and The Bible Course which he created. I had the opportunity of meeting him at Spring Harvest this year and purchased his latest book, God’s Book, An honest look at the Bible’s 7 Toughest Topics. I must admit, I started it and couldn’t put it down, so I have no idea why I haven’t finished it. Still, the summer is coming and if children across our country are about to embark on the library reading challenge (to read one book a week for the six weeks summer break), I am challenging you to read two Christian directed books this summer. If I rock up at church with a pile of books, please don’t be surprised. Mother has suggested that I open up a mobile library, as I have so many books, (many I haven’t opened). Let me know if you’re up for the summer challenge. Send me an email, or better still a picture of you reading a Christian book in the most unusual…or usual place. Perhaps we can make a collage of pictures by mid-September, just for fun.
