Rev Chris update – 5th September
Dear all,
THE BIBLE PROJECT IS COMING BACK
Dates to be confirmed but over the winter months we will have some evenings in church looking at two books from the Old Testament, JOB and SONG OF SONGS, using the above-mentioned resource.
JOB tackles issues around undeserved suffering. An appropriate theme bearing in mind all that we have dealt with during the pandemic.
SONG OF SONGS considers the beauty of intimacy (and is said to be the rudest book in the bible!).
The sermons and talks on Sunday mornings, across the winter, will also be considering what these books have to say to us in our lives today.
In the meantime, attached is this week’s Services & Events page from which I want to bring to your attention a couple of items;
SATURDAY 11th SEPTEMBER, 10am to 6pm – Ride & Stride. Every year, at this time, the Friends of Kent Churches organise a cycling/walking tour to churches across the county. Those who are sponsored can raise money for their church, and the Friends, by visiting as many as possible. Each church has a place to ‘sign in’ and St Nicholas will be open all day for those taking part. I usually cycle as many as I can and make a donation accordingly, although feel free to sponsor me if you wish.
SUNDAY 19th SEPTEMBER, 10am – OASIS CAFÉ SERVICE. Fiona will be leading this service ‘Café’ style, which lends itself to greater engagement in discussion on any given topic. Refreshments will be available as you arrive.
Finally, the social committee are arranging a Harvest Supper, flyer attached, that will be held in the main hall on Saturday 2nd October at 7.30pm, with home grown entertainment – which probably means I’ve got to think of something to contribute!
Blessings,
Rev Chris
