Prayers – October 2024
‘The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock in whom I take refuge.’ Psalm 18:2
Dear Lord, we give you our thanks and praise that You are a rock in our lives. All around may change, but You remain constant. You hold us in Your hand, You comfort in times of trouble, You strengthen in times of difficulty, You support us when we falter, You rejoice with us in our times of joy. We can truly join with the Psalmist when he declares:’ Let Your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us even as we hope in You.
We pray for all those whose lives have been touched by conflict. Lord, there are so many places in the world where individuals and nations abuse and kill. We pray, Father, for Your Holy Spirit to move in the hearts and minds of those who seek power, who have no compassion on their fellow man. You alone can change the heart of man, we ask that You bless all those who seek to spread Your word and the knowledge of the love of Jesus in areas of conflict.
Lord, we give You thanks for the beauty of Your creation. As we celebrate Harvest, may we consider how we use Your resources, using only what we need, being mindful of the damage we can cause by misusing pesticides, chemicals. Your world contains all we need to live contentedly, keep us aware of our behaviour in the environment.
We continue to pray for Your church here in Maidstone. Give us the courage to live by Your statutes and not be swayed by the ways of the world. You have called us to be in the world as representatives of Jesus. Help us, Lord, to reflect Jesus in our speech, actions, choices.
We ask You to comfort all those who are sick, anxious or bereaved. In You is hope. You are with us.
‘ May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by His Grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.’ 2 Thess.2:16
Lord, we take this prayer for ourselves
