PRAYERS

DIOCESE 3rd Sunday of Lent

Heavenly Father, as his disciples in the world today be with us as we make our Lenten journey following in the footsteps of your Son. Forgive us when we stumble and lose our way. Make us worthy to travel with Jesus in humility on the path that leads not just to Calvary and the Cross but to the empty tomb and the joy of the resurrection. May we, filled with that joy and equipped by the Holy Spirit, continue on our journey of faith and commitment to you.

Amen.

‘Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always. Remember the wonders He has done, His miracles and the judgements He pronounced’ 1 Chronicles 16:11-12

Lord, we give You our praise and thanks for all that You have done for your people. You are a mighty God, faithful and true. We bring You our praise and honour because we know that You are unchanging and eternal. In You we can put our hope and trust. Help us always to remember Your Grace and compassion toward us.

‘ Trust in Him at all times, O people, pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge’ Psalm 62:8

Thank you, Lord, for guiding us through this interregnum; may we continue to seek Your path as we continue our journey. Help us to stand firm, to acknowledge Your presence, to bring Your light into our community. We ask, Father, that we will be open to Your guidance knowing… as Jeremiah declared:’ I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to give you a hope and a future.’ (Jeremiah 29:11) Please, Father, be with all those who are part of Your church here at St. Nic’s, help us all to use the gifts You have given to bring glory to Jesus and to shine Your light in the darkness.

We continue to pray for all those living in areas where the church is persecuted… Mozambique, Laos, Nigeria, Pakistan, Iran; for all living through war…Ukraine, Yemen, Israel, Palestine. Bring strength and comfort to the suffering. Please, Lord, raise up men & women who will pursue peace, who will strive to end these wars. Give them wisdom and discernment as they seek to influence ungodly leaders. Pour out Your Holy Spirit on your Church in places of conflict.

As we move through Lent, open our eyes to the needs around us, help us to overcome our own temptations to take the easy path, to stand by when we could make a difference. Give us the Grace to be those people You destined us to be…not to be pulled back into the rebellion of the world. Thank you that You have given us all we need to follow Jesus completely and wholeheartedly.

‘Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures for ever and ever.’ 1 Chronicles 16:34
