‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.’ Matt. 6 v 9
Thank you, Father, that You are not only close to us, we are Your children, but you are also Holy, a God of awesome Majesty. You are all powerful and the creator of everything. May we always remember that You are the Father of all people. When we pray, Lord, help us to keep in mind that we are all created in your image; we are all precious to you and as such all who call on you are our brothers and sisters. Please give us the grace to welcome all, to break down barriers, to share Your love, to live as citizens of your Kingdom here on earth.
We pray especially for the leaders of nations, for all who have responsibility for others and influence in the affairs of the world. May your Kingdom come in their lives that they will act with compassion, honesty and integrity.
‘When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.’ Acts 2 v 1 & 4
(A prayer for Pentecost written by Andrew Murray, Pastor in 1888)
Lord, we worship before the throne on which Your Son is seated, crowned with glory and honour. Thank you that it is for us, that He suffered, rose and is now seated with You.
We beseech thee, O Father, to reveal to your Church how Jesus, our blessed Head counts us as His body sharing with Him in His life, His power and His glory, and how the Holy Spirit is waiting to reveal that power and that glory in us… Oh that Your people may know what the Holy Spirit means, as the real presence within us, the power from on high for our work on earth.
Our Father, we plead with Thee, in the name of Jesus, revive Thy Church. Make every believer a temple full of the Holy Spirit. Make every Church, in its believing members, a consecrated company ever testifying to Jesus. Make every preacher of the word a minister of the spirit. Let, throughout the earth, Pentecost be a sign that Jesus reigns, that the redeemed are His body, that His spirit is at work, and that every knee shall bow to Him ( Jesus) Amen
Lord, we pray for Revival in Your Church, let us be witnesses to Your love for all mankind.
