‘Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.’ Psalm 106:1
As we celebrate 50 years of the church building in Allington, we give thanks for all those who have gone before us and kept the word of God alive in St. Nic’s. We bring our praise and thanks to God for His faithfulness to us, for His great love for all people. We pray for Your church this year as we look forward to the next 50 years, may You be with us and our new leadership as we move forward. We ask that You put into Your church here all that we need to spread Your word and love throughout our area.
We sing ‘Give thanks with a grateful heart’, Lord, help us to remember in difficult times as well as in times of joy to be grateful for Your love, we have so much to be thankful for living here in a place of safety. We lift up to you the people of Los Angeles who have lost homes and possessions, help them to move forward in dealing with their loss. Thank you for the emergency services who are working tirelessly to stem the fires and bring people to safety. Give them strength to continue the fight and keep them safe.
‘Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.’ 2 Corinthians9:6-7
Lord, everything we have comes from You, please help us to realise how blessed we are and to give cheerfully of our time, money and talents without which the church will fail. Be with us as we make decisions on how to use the gifts You have freely given. Lord, we want to be a people who are so thankful for Your generosity to us.
‘Do not fear for I am with you. I will strengthen you and help you.’ Isaiah 41:10
Lord God, You are a faithful God who listens to our prayers, we ask for You to be with all those who are sick and troubled. Give them peace in their hearts and comfort in their minds and bodies. We pray for healing for those on our prayer list, hope for those in war torn countries, peace in Syria, Gaza, Israel and other countries torn apart by man’s selfishness and greed. Give wisdom and strength to the peacemakers. Have mercy on the world, Lord, it’s a beautiful place.
