DIOCESE PRAYING ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE
Creator God, we pray that the leaders of countries who will come together at the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow in November, will commit to reaching net zero carbon emissions within a timescale that holds the temperature rise to no more than 1.5 degrees. We pray that action is taken to phase out our reliance on fossil fuels and that renewable energy initiatives are brought forward. Help us all to do what we can, however great or small, to reduce our carbon emissions for the benefit of everyone. Amen.

Prayers
‘Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His love endures forever.’ psalm 107:1
Let’s thank the Lord for His love toward us, for His presence in our lives. For keeping our land safe from the natural disasters which have been occurring around the world. We pray, Lord, for all those who are coping with damage from hurricane Ida, from the fires caused by extreme heat, for Haiti after the earthquake. Please, Lord, be with them, give them hope in the midst of disaster. May all who are in a position to help be generous with their aid…..financial, practical, emotional. Please, Lord, bring healing.
‘Even now,’ declares the Lord, ‘return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.’ Joel 2: 12
We pray for our nation so busy pursuing false gods. Sweep through our land by your Holy Spirit, Lord, that we may return to you. We pray for our church, give discernment to our leaders to judge according to your view, help them to walk righteously. Please give them spiritual maturity to lead your people into your ways. We give thanks for all who strive to do your work.
We pray for teachers, support & maintenance staff of all our schools & colleges. We pray for your blessing over their lives, guide them & empower them as they make decisions which require Your wisdom. Help them not to feel alone. Strengthen them from within so they may be a source of strength, confidence & hope for the students.
We pray for all students as the pandemic continues. Keep them safe, protect them from harm, enable them to learn, keep them from fear. Thank you for Your love for all your creation.
‘You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.’ Isaiah 26:3
