WEEKLY PRAYERS
‘For I know the plans I have for you’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ Jeremiah 29:11.
In these changing, uncertain times, we ask, Lord, that we may maintain our hope in You and hold on to the assurances You give us…that you will guide us, that your unfailing love will be with us. May You be our stronghold in times of doubt. You know, Lord, how we can struggle and lose our way, help us Lord to put our trust in You. You have promised that’ those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.’ Isaiah 40:31
Desmond Tutu said’ Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.’ Thank you Lord that You are the Light of the world, you have said:’ I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’ John 8:12
We thank you, Lord, that no matter how dark the situation appears, You can shine your light into our lives and dispel the darkness.
We pray for all those who are anxious and confused, who feel helpless and alone because of the current rules, those who haven’t been able to see family and friends. You, Lord, are the one source of eternal hope. Give us the desire to draw near to You:’ Let us with confidence draw near to the throne of Grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.’ Hebrews 4:16
Circle us, O Lord, with the joy of your salvation. Where there is sickness and disease bring healing. Where there is hunger and despair bring hope. Where there is torture and oppression bring release. Lord of creation, Lord of Salvation, circle this world with the light of your presence. (John Birch)
