‘But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a Holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.’ 1 Peter 2:9
We give You our thanks and praise for rescuing us from the power of the world, for bringing us into a kingdom of truth and light. May we never forget that we are Your people, called to bring Your kingdom into being. We give thanks for all those who give up everything to follow You, may they receive blessings in this life and in the one to come.
We pray for christians in cultures where family and ‘religious’ ties are so strong that leaving the national religion to follow Jesus is regarded as treachery. Please enable our brothers and sisters to remain true to their calling and to be filled with the knowledge that they are part of Your worldwide family, Your Holy nation.
‘ The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.’
We lift up to You all those who feel anxious because of Covid, the world situation, fear of food shortages, poverty. Lord, we live in uncertain times, so much information is available. Please help us to focus on the things that matter, to keep our hearts and minds on You. Give us the courage and discernment to act when and where we can; to be generous with all that we have. We acknowledge, Lord, that every good thing comes from You; may we hold our possessions lightly and be willing to help those in need.
‘ How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!’ 1John 3:1
Thank you Father for the great privilege of being able to call on You. We pray for all those who don’t yet know You. May you open their eyes and hearts to acknowledge You as God and Saviour.
