Prayers for 17 October

DIOCESE Lord God you are at the centre of creation. Hear our prayer of thankfulness for the gift of land and the richness and diversity of creation. You bring us into partnership to work within creation and, through the efforts of the farmer and grower, bring forth fruitfulness and food from the land.

At this time of Harvest hear our prayer for the agricultural community, for all who bring us the produce for our wellbeing and all who work to maintain the beauty of the countryside.

These prayers and thanksgivings we offer to you, God of creation and fruitfulness. Amen (Farming Community Network Prayer)

Prayers

‘Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus’    1 Thessalonians: 5:16

Lord, we ask that You will make us into a house of prayer. May we be clear-minded & focused on Your will. Help us to stand in the gap for others who don’t know You or who are fearful of You. Give us the ability to recognise that Your desire is for all to come to You in thanksgiving & with joy.

‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done.’ Matt 6:10

Please Lord, open our eyes to see things as You see them, let our priority be to see Your kingdom in our lives & in our community. Enable us through Your Holy Spirit to be worthy ambassadors for Your Kingdom, we long to see our neighbourhood renewed and restored to You. Bless each home and family. You have entrusted Your message of peace and reconciliation to us, help us Lord to fulfill that commission.

‘The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.’ Psalm 24:1

We acknowledge the this is Your world, Your creation. We pray that we may use Your resources wisely, that others won’t suffer as a result of our greed. Help us to think of others before ourselves, to pray continuously for those in authority that their decisions may be wise; for those who persecute & terrorise that they may come to know Jesus and change their ways; for the church that we may continue to bring hope; for all who suffer that You will bring hope and comfort.

‘Praise the Lord all you nations; extol Him all you peoples. For great is His love towards us and the faithfulness of the Lord endures for ever. Praise the Lord’ Psalm 117
