DIOCESE Praying Together: Candlemas
Precious Father, you have peopled this planet with your beloved children, and, to our utter amazement, you have love enough for us all. As we look at Jesus, the embodiment of your love, we are deeply stirred by his call to us to follow him; and we ask for an increase in our longing for deep communion with the one whose own longing for us was enough for him to die to restore us as his family. We ask for the strength and grace to walk faithfully and trustingly along the path you set before us.
Amen.

‘May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.’ Romans 15: 13

We give You our praise and thanks that Your promises are not empty. As we put our trust in Your word, help us to show joy and peace in a world that’s increasingly fractured. We give You thanks that Your love is available to all men.

We pray for all those who are living in areas of war, especially the Middle East, Ukraine, Yemen and Sudan. We ask that you raise up men and women of compassion, wisdom and peace. You have said
‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.’ Let them be seen to make a difference in a world where mankind seeks his own glory and power. Give hope to the innocent who suffer, those whose lives and livelihood are threatened, to those made homeless. We pray for safety for all the aid workers, medical staff and all who bring aid to the most desperate.

‘Who is wise? He will realise these things. Who is discerning? He will understand them. The ways of the Lord are right, the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.’ Hosea 14: 9
Lord, we pray for our nation. We seem to have forgotten how gracious you have been to us over the years. We give thanks for all the people who have kept your Word alive and prospering over the centuries. We ask You, Lord, to bring a restoration of faith in You into Parliament, schools, workplaces and homes. Forgive us for having raised up false gods in Your place. We recognise that You want our love freely given and enjoyed in a relationship with You…..may You be able to say ‘Those who were not my people are now my people, and they will say, ‘ You are my God.’ Hosea 2:23

Heavenly Father, we pray for Your healing touch on the minds and bodies of all those we pray for, whether they are sick, anxious or troubled in any way. Please, Lord, keep us united in You, let Your love be shown through Your people especially as we face a time of change. We pray for wisdom and discernment for those selecting our new Minister. Help them to see clearly who is the right person to move with us into the future.

As we move towards Spring, better weather and longer days, we confess ‘ The heavens declare the glory of the God; the skies proclaim the work of His hand.’ Psalm 19:1

Thank you Lord for our beautiful world.
