How often when weary, do we sigh ‘The spirit is willing but the body is weak. ‘How often when in prayer are thoughts distracted by sounds or circumstance, or prayers diverted by trivial concerns. Baggage carried with us rather than left at your feet. How often do we find ourselves apologising to you, for our abbreviated prayer life. And yet you draw us still to be in your presence, as you did the disciples at Gethsemane. You want us to share in your life, to play our part. You told your disciples to watch and pray so that they might not fall into temptation. Do you ask the same of us and do we also fail you, each time we whisper ‘ The spirit is willing but the body is weak’? Grant us the strength, Lord, of body and spirit to offer you the sacrifice of our lives. (faithandworship.com.)
Lord, we thank you for the agony and separation from God which You suffered to give us eternal life. We bring our praise and worship to You, the Risen Christ, you broke the chains of death for us and set us free. We join with the rejoicing around the world as your people celebrate the glory of Easter. Father, we can’t begin to imagine such love as you feel for us. You are the God of hope, you are beside your church every step of the way.
‘ We know that Christ has been raised from the dead and He will never die again. Death no longer has power over Him.’ Romans 6:9
We pray, Lord, that we will keep our eyes fixed on You, with you along side us, we will not be shaken. We pray for all those who bring your word to life, a light in the darkness. May the knowledge that ‘ He is risen’ touch the lives of all we meet and resound around the world.
‘ Because if you confess with your mouth ‘ Jesus is Lord’ and in your heart you have faith that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.’ Romans 10:9
Allelulia, He is Risen indeed.
