DIOCESE  Listening and Discerning: Praying a blessing on the Young

Heavenly Father, we thank you for our children. We pray for each one of them as they begin new adventures, at Primary or Secondary school, sixth form, university or working; We ask that you will be with them and protect them. We thank you that you have created them for a purpose, and we pray that they would know your love for them. We pray that you would help those struggling with anxiety and mental health, and that you will help those who seek help to be bold to ask for it. Bless our children we pray Lord.

Amen.

‘Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows.’ James 1:17

Dear Lord, thank you for those moments of joy and blessing which we all experience in our lives. Your goodness and mercy surrounds us at all times, please, Lord, help us to remember that Your love sustains and enriches us constantly, every good gift comes from you.

‘As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people both now and forevermore.’ Psalm 125:2

Lord God, in a world where turmoil, isolation and loneliness are a constant concern, we long for the assurance of Your presence. We pray, Father, for all those we know who are finding life harsh, who don’t know where to go for hope. We ask, Father, that we may be able to bring Your comfort, to show your love and compassion, that we may be your eyes, hands and feet on this earth…ever mindful of your leading us. We pray that we may be open to Your Holy Spirit each day of our lives, living for you not for ourselves.

We pray especially for all those who are making decisions for the future, bring wisdom and tolerance instead of anxiety. Help parents and students to see exam results in perspective, bring peace into tense situations. Please, Father, let this be a time of hope for the future, not despair and disappointment over perceived failure. You have plans for each of us who calls on your name, you see the potential in each one of us. Give us the grace to see others through your eyes and to seek to speak words of encouragement and hope.

We lift up to you all those who are sick and anxious, please bring healing to their bodies and joy into their lives. Be with them, we pray, let them know You are with them each moment of each day.

‘ And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.’ Psalm 9:10

We continue to pray for our troubled world, for those who bring hurt, war, terror, greed and lust for power into being… May they have a revelation of your kingdom and a turning from their ways. Bring Your peace to earth, we pray.
