PRAYERS
DIOCESE | Praying with the Sittingbourne Deanery
Area Dean: Julian Staniforth Lay Chair: Elaine Appleton Secretary: Andrea Staniforth Treasurer: David Gilbert Lord Jesus, we give thanks for the growing desire for unity in mission both in the Deanery and in Sittingbourne town. We pray this deepens as we seek to support and encourage each other, especially following the recent licensing of Colin & Robert to their new parishes. We pray for the future shape of ministry in the town, including the role of IGNITE, as we review the Deanery Mission Plan to ensure a sustainable basis for flourishing ministry. We pray to discern where you are at work in our communities, so we may be your means of seeing changed lives |

‘And God raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.’ Ephesians 2:6
We give you thanks and praise that we have new life in Jesus, that we are able to freely come before You at all times, in all places, that we share in the victory Jesus gained for us. Nothing can separate us from Your love.
‘For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.’ Isaiah 9:6
Thank you, Lord, that Your promise was fulfilled and is being fulfilled. We anticipate the day when Jesus will return to reign. We pray for all those who are in government, we ask that they learn from Jesus what His government is like. May they seek to bring peace and rest to the world, not seeking their own power, glory and influence to build their own empires, but seeking the good for the oppressed and hopeless.
We give You thanks for all those who teach and lead the flock You have given them, for those who leave home and family to take Your word to distant lands, for those who study Your word and praise You, for those who give up lucrative careers to go and share the Good News of Jesus, for those who care for orphans and those rejected by family. Thank you, Lord, that Your government is alive and working in so many situations, often unseen.
We pray, Lord, that we will, by choice, be governed by You, full of hope, joy and peace. May Your Kingdom of justice, mercy and Grace rule in our lives. We pray for those who haven’t yet entered Your Kingdom, may they hear Your voice and enter in… may Jesus be their Saviour.
‘And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.’ Romans 8:28
As we go through each day, help us to remember that although the path may seem zig zag, backwards and forwards, all things are ordained by You for our good, give us the Grace to listen and follow, taking note of Jesus faithful counsel.
