DIOCESE Praying Together: for Food-banks

Lord Jesus,

At this time of great need we pray for food banks seeking to relieve hunger, distress and anxiety for those in need. We pray for the needs of the teams who daily hear distressing stories; Lord give them Your words for those people in need. We pray for supplies for the food banks, as people cope with the increased cost of living. Help those who can to continue to give food for those in need. Lord Jesus, sustain all those who support others in need and give them the comfort of Your loving presence beside them.

Amen.

‘Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendour, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth an honour come from you; you are ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, O Lord, we give you thanks and praise your glorious name.’ 1 Chron 29:11-13

Lord, we join with David as he acknowledges You as Supreme being. We trust that You will notice our needs and prayers and that, in Your timing, You will answer us. We know, Lord, that You can do far more than we can possibly imagine, so we come to You asking that all things are done to bring Your Kingdom into being and for Your praise and glory.

Thank you, Lord, for all those whose lives have been touched by Your love. We pray that You will continue to watch over us and guide us surely on our individual journey. We pray also for the church, may it be a place of hope and sanctuary to all who enter the building and may those who are Your living church be able to bring Your peace into every situation.

We pray for those who are having financial difficulty. We ask that you will guide our leaders into making decisions to benefit the marginalised. May those who guard their material wealth be encouraged to reach out to the less fortunate. Lord, only You can open eyes and hearts, so we pray that You will work our lives to help us see clearly where the needs are and to give us the desire to respond.

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.’ Psalm 90:14

We pray that we would be aware daily of your presence: in the beauty of the world, in the encouragement of people we meet, in the routine of our lives. We pray for those who find each day difficult, for whom each day brings no joy, for whom change is challenging or frightening. Please, Lord, teach them to find joy in small things, in the smiles of strangers, in the love of family and friends.

‘If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.’ Romans 12:18

Lord, we continue to pray for Your peace to come into the world. We pray for the peacemakers, let their work bear fruit. For ourselves, Lord, we pray that we may be at peace with each other living in the light of your word and the love of Jesus, our Saviour.
