PRAYERS

DIOCESE Praying Together: a blessing on our daily lives
Creator God, we praise you for your work in Creation,
for the beauty and wonder of the world in which we live.
We thank you that you have called us to serve you,
in all that we give of ourselves in our daily work,
whether in places of education, workplaces or homes.
In our work, may we come to fullness of life, in your image,
And be ever willing to serve you and one another.
Forgive us for when we have failed to appreciate the work of others.
Help us to see and respect the dignity of all,
And be willing to take our part, however costly, in ensuring that all are valued.
Bless us in our work and daily lives.
Give us confidence to be faithful in the small and everyday things,
Through which you make your purposes known. Amen.

‘This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.’  Psalm 118:24

‘Give us today our daily bread.’ Matt. 6:11

Thank you, Lord, for all the days You give us. We do rejoice in your gifts to us and rely on You rather than human strength. We pray, Lord, that we won’t dwell on regrets from the past or fears and anxieties for the future. May we be focused on today, live one day at the time knowing that You provide all we need for each day whether material, emotional or spiritual.

We pray for all who are anxious for the weeks ahead, the rising costs of fuel, heating, food. We pray for those making decisions about the current economic situation, may they find a solution which will benefit all people. We pray for those who have an abundance, may they share what they have with the less fortunate around them. We ask you to bless all who give generously of their goods, time and expertise. Thank you for the generosity of the residents of Allington who give so faithfully week by week.

‘The beginning of the day should not be haunted or burdened by the various concerns we face. The Lord’s above the day for God made it all. Darkness and confusion give way to the clear light of Jesus Christ. All restlessness, all anxiety, all worry and all fears flee before Him’       Dietrich Bonhoeffer

As we move through changes in our lives, may we remember that You see all, hear all, know all and are constantly with us seeing what lies ahead and preparing us for every situation. We ask for Your Holy Spirit to be present in our lives that we might live not for ourselves but to be a blessing to others.

We continue to pray for our country and for the world….that Your Kingdom may come into being throughout all lands. We pray for those spreading Your word, protect and guide them as they share the love of Jesus wherever they are placed.

‘Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures for ever.’ Psalm 118:1
