CREATION CARE

Creator God, sustainer of all things, You have entrusted to us the care of your world. In the face of the planet’s distress, Rescue us from the paralysis of complacency and defeatism; Teach us to blend prayer and activism, hope and determination, That your Church might truly be good news to all creation. Amen.

Caring for creation involves a healthy mix of prayer and action. In this Creation season, we invite you to make a ‘prayerful change’ – to choose just one small lifestyle change which will benefit the planet, then to pause and pray for a moment each time you put that change into practice. As world leaders gather for the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, we invite you to join us in making the first two weeks of November a time of focused prayer for the environment. Visit the Keep Praying page on our website for plenty of creative ways you and your church can pray and take action: https://www.canterburydiocese.org/keep-praying

‘Praise be to the Lord, our Saviour, who daily bears our burdens. Our God is a God who saves; from the sovereign Lord comes escape from death.’ Psalm 68:19

Thank you , Father, that we have been brought into Your Kingdom & have eternal life.

During this time of remembrance, we pray for all believers suffering persecution. We ask, Lord, that You would give them courage to continue to spread the Gospel of Jesus, help them to encourage & support each other wherever possible. We ask for Your protection on their meeting places, may Your word help them to be well grounded in their faith, to trust in Your strength & comfort.

‘Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.’ Matt 5:10

Lord, we can’t begin to understand the trials some of our brothers & sisters go through, but we claim this verse for them. May they know comfort & even joy in their relationship with You. May this verse be demonstrated in their lives.

‘But I tell You, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be the sons of your Father in Heaven.’ Matt 5:44

We know Lord that You change lives, that nobody is beyond Your reach, so we pray for all those who perpetrate crimes against Your people; we pray that they will recognise their need of Your saving grace. Lord, with You, nothing is impossible. All who seek You can be rescued.

‘For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.’ Col 1:13-14
