DIOCESE Listening and Discerning: Living with generosity

Infinite God,

you came to us in Jesus that we may have life in

abundance.

When we are tempted to narrow the limits of your love,

or feel overwhelmed by the needs of our church and world,

give us courage to believe in your promises of abundant

life.

And filled with that life may our generosity be a sign and

symbol of the trust you put in us to be as Christ to one

another for the good of all those who you call us to serve.

Amen.

‘I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.’ Psalm 34:1

Lord, we bring You our praise at all times, in all places, in all circumstances. No matter what is happening, You are always worthy of our praise. You are our hope, our light, our joy.

In the same way, let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.’ Matt5:16

We pray, Lord, for Your light in us, please shine Your light into the corners and shadows of our lives, that we may truly reflect You. Give us the courage to spring clean our lives, to clear out the things which are not glorifying to You . May we be carriers of Your light, grace and blessing daily.

‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’ John 8:12

We pray for Your church throughout the world, especially for those who are in danger for following You. Give them strength to shine Your light around them, keep them close to You, let their witness be powerful in the darkness around them.

‘Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.’ Desmond Tutu

We pray for all those working in dark areas, give them certainty of hope, remind them daily of Your presence, give them strength to bring light into lives blighted by hopelessness. Wherever there is just a glimmer of light, may Your Holy Spirit fan it into flame. Let Jesus be glorified throughout the nations.

‘You are my God, and I will give You thanks; You are my God and I will exalt You.’ Psalm 119:28
