‘For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care.’ Psalm 95: 3-6

Lord, we come before You with thanksgiving and praise; You are above all things and your deeds are truly marvellous. May we never lose sight of Your power, majesty, compassion, righteousness and omniscience. We are truly in awe of Your nature, but so thankful that You care for each one of us.

‘He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.’ 1 Thess. 5:10-11

We pray, Lord, that as we prepare for changes within St. Nic’s, We keep our eyes focussed on You. We give thanks for the good years we have had, for the growth of fellowship within the church. We ask that You will be with those who will be leading us forward, fill them with Your spirit, give them wisdom and discernment. May the burden not be overwhelming, give us the Grace to encourage one another practically, in prayer, in listening, in building Your church.

We ask, Lord, that You calm fears, let Your church be a calming presence and a beacon of light in the face of confusion. In the wider world, we pray for the victims of the floods in Pakistan, may effective help reach them. We especially pray for those who are being denied aid because they follow You. Help the church  to have opportunity to be a voice of reason and Grace, may they offer aid to all those in need regardless of their status.

Lord, we pray for Liz Truss as she takes up office. We pray that she will chose advisors carefully and will have the good of the whole country at heart. Help her to make wise decisions and to have support of able ministers around her.

‘Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.’ Col.3:23

We give thanks for the long, reign of Queen Elizabeth, a wonderful example of selfless dedication to her task. Thank you for her unswerving faith in You. We pray for her family, for her children and their families, for Charles grieving the loss of his mother and having to take on the mantle of Sovereign. Bring them comfort and joy in their memories of a loving Mother, Grandmother & Great-grandmother.
