DIOCESE Listening and Discerning: Biodiversity loss

Creator of the rich diversity of life, the way that we have used and spoilt land and seas – through deforestation, agriculture intensification, built development and pollution – has caused huge losses of biodiversity. Help us to change our ways towards more sustainable land management and fishing practices that enable wild flowers, insects, birds, mammals and sea life to flourish. We pray for global action to halt further species loss and to reverse the decline in biodiversity.

‘You are worthy, our God, to receive glory and honour and power, for You created all things and by Your will they were created and have their being.’    Rev 4:11

We will celebrate and praise you ,Lord. You are good and your love never fails. Only You are God, your power is great, You are worthy of praise, mighty King, our Lord and God.

Lord, from the moment your Spirit hovered over the earth, we were part of Your vision. You created for us a beautiful world, a green and pleasant place where we may walk. A world which reveals Your beauty and majesty. The heavens declare Your Glory and we praise You for your creation.

Lord, at this Harvest time, we thank you for the provision You made for us, for the cycle of planting and reaping, for the skill of those who produce food for us, for those who distribute it, for those who buy and sell.

Forgive us, Lord, for our wastefulness, for our lack of care for those who don’t have a plentiful supply of food. We pray for those in need through warfare, drought, poverty, loneliness, for all those with an uncertain future. Bless all those who bring aid to the vulnerable, enable us to see this world as a gift from you that can be shared, and those who live in it as our neighbours. May Your name be glorified in the service Your church brings to the world.

‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.’ Luke 10:2

We pray, Lord, for all those who are ready to believe in You. May we be ready to show Your eternal life to all those outside Your kingdom that they may be saved by Your precious blood.
