Prayers – 09/01
DIOCESE | Gracious God, we say a lot of words to you out of need, anxiety, hope and love. We are solaced by the knowledge that you hear our every word and understand our deepest longing. Then we pause and wonder about how well we listen to you: in the quiet, through the words of others, in the natural world, and, gosh, in a myriad of other ways.
Dear Lord, help us to listen………….. Lord, help us to listen…………. We Listen……. Amen. (Prayer request written by Canon Neville Emslie – Diocesan Director of Mission and Ministry) Anglican Communion: The Baptism of Christ Iglesia Anglicana de Chile |

‘Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom’ Psalm 145:3
Lord, we give you thanks that during the last year, no matter what we went through,You never left our side. We look forward to this new year asking for Your peace and hope in our hearts. No matter what comes our way, we pray that we will keep our eyes focussed on You. Thank you that You are greater than anything we may experience in our days. We pray, Lord, for Your Grace to cover our lives daily.
‘Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.’ Isaish 43: 18-19
As we begin a new year, we pray that we will be open to Your leading. We know, Lord, how much we rely on Your Grace, strength, power working through us. We ask that we will be able to make a difference in this world for Your Glory, that Your purpose might be fulfilled. Help all Your people to reflect Your peace and hope to a world that so desperately needs Your presence and healing.
‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come’ 2 Corinthians 5:17
We pray also for all those in authority, open their eyes, hearts and minds to Your wisdom. Don’t let them trust their own understanding but give them the desire to look beyond human wisdom. Lord, You can change people from the inside, turn them around completely. We pray for Your Holy Spirit to work in our world, to enable Your Kingdom to be made manifest. We pray for godly men and women to be heard in every walk of life.
‘The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds’ Psalm 147:3
We lift up to You all who are suffering the effects of natural disasters, of persecution, of famine, poverty, hopelessness. We pray for Your healing hand on them, Lord, we don’t know who these people are, but You do, each one is precious to You, we ask that You have mercy on them in their hour of need….please send some help to them in Jesus name we ask.
