DIOCESE | Listening and Discerning: Praying for our world
When we spend time outside today, let us watch for and dwell on the places where nature is broken, hurt or ripped apart. As we gaze, let us look for the signs that demonstrate life’s determination to carry on and grow back. A prayer Lord God, when we consider the suffering in our world and in our lives, help us to see your resurrection power at work in nature. May it fill us with hope to overcome adversity and redeem what is broken. Amen. Please pray today for ‘Walk Church – celebrating God outdoors’ as we consider how to develop its future. Prayer request written by Revd Alex Bienfait – founder and leader of ‘Walk Church – celebrating God outdoors’ |

PRAYERS
‘For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.’ Habbakuk 2:14
Thank you, Lord, for the promise in Habbakuk, as relevant today as it was then. We ask, Father, for an increase of Your word to go out to the nations, that all men may know of Your Glory and come to worship You. We praise You for your consistent nature, what You have promised will come to pass. Help us, Lord, to be constant in prayer for the world around us, for family, friends, neighbours, the wider world as it comes to mind.
‘Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge Him. As surely as the sun rises He will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.’ Hosea 6:3
We acknowledge, Father, our need of You in our lives as we await the coming of your kingdom here on earth. We pray for peace to flow among us and among all people. We pray especially for the countries torn apart by violence, natural disasters, greed. We ask that You will bring peacemakers into strife, those who bring Your peace… eternal and compassionate. Help us to produce the fruit of Your spirit, doing our part to show Your love.
We give thanks that 2 more Chibok girls have been found. We pray for them as they return to their families, we ask for grace, mercy and compassion to be found in abundance as they move forward. We pray for those still in captivity that they may also be released. Thank you, Lord, for prayer answered for those found so far. We continue to pray for Nigeria as they fight the ruthless regime of Boko Haram and ask for those in government to speak and act in accordance with Your will.
‘May our Lord Jesus Christ himself & God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.’ 2 Thess:2:16-17
We lift up to You the Church in Britain. May we return to You & once again truly be a Christian nation. Encourage those who lead your people, give them hope and joy in their work.
