DIOCESE Praying Together: for those using Foodbanks

Lord Jesus,

We pray for those who find themselves without the food that they need to sustain themselves at this time and thank you for the work that is done by food banks to support this need.
We pray for people who are living in fear, afraid that the money they have will not be enough to meet their essential needs as the cost-of-living increases. Lord, calm that fear and bring them Your peace.

Amen.

‘In peace I lie down and sleep, for You alone , Lord, make me dwell in safety.’ Psalm 4:8

We give You our thanks and praise that You give inner peace to your people. We are yours and all Your promises are true for each one of us, regardless of how we feel, You are faithful and Your word & Spirit are there to give us strength. Help us to live according to Your precepts, may our minds be governed by your Holy Spirit.

‘The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.’ Romans 8:6

We come to you in a world threatened by chaos created by those who don’t value You or Your world. We pray for all those who are suffering the effects of man’s Godlessness. For Ukraine, threatened by Russian threats; for North Koreans, whose leadership is firing missiles; for the citizens of the USA whose government is spending lavishly on nuclear weapons; for those in Israel & Palestine suffering military strikes. Lord, the list is endless & we see so little hope with our eyes. But, Lord, we come to You knowing that You are all powerful & can change hearts and minds. We pray, Lord, for those in positions of power to meet with Jesus that their lives may be changed, that Your peace will come into the world.  Please, Lord, bring healing to your land.

We pray for all those who have been affected by war, famine, pollution of land, air and water. Bring healing to their minds and bodies.

‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God.’  Matthew 5:9

God of peace, we pray that you would inspire us to create a peaceful world. Help us to call our leaders into accountability and to remind them that more war and weapons do not bring peace. Give all of us the courage to reach out to those we deem different or threatening. Help us to be a peaceful people in our families, church, neighbourhood and world.

‘Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.’ James 3:18

Heavenly Father, we ask through Your Son, Jesus, that the prayers of your people will make a difference, that You will hear our prayer and bring healing to the world.
