DIOCESE | Listening and Discerning: God’s faithfulness
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations3:22-23 NRSV) Gracious God, we thank you for your renewing work in us; for your compassion that never runs out. We thank you for your faithful love which has held and sustained us over recent years, helping us to face difficulties and to welcome change. With gratitude for the past, we lift our eyes to the future and ask that you would help us to notice your compassion at work in places where we’ve never seen it before. Amen. We give you our thanks, Lord, that we can come to You knowing that You are listening, concerned and ready to hear our prayers. We are truly grateful for the answers we have received, the joy of knowing that, if we keep close to You, our prayers are heard and Your answers are given. We pray, Father, that we might be open to hearing from You and accepting that Your way is the only way to live with peace, joy and contentment.
‘But truly God has listened; He has heard my voice in prayer.’ Psalm 66:19
Lord, we continue to pray for those around us who are sick or anxious, for those who have been bereaved. We ask that You bring healing to their bodies and minds. Please, Lord, give them the comfort of knowing Your presence, hold them fast in Your love.
‘If my people, who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.’ 1 Chron. 7:14
Lord, we thank you for the beauty of the earth. We pray that You will have mercy on this troubled world. Forgive us our negligence of your commands, we know that You see all that is happening, you are not deaf to the cries of pain of your people. Guide us, Lord, to make the right choices, remove our fears and fill us with confidence. We pray, Lord, that you will cleanse the earth through Your power, restore peace, turn men’s hearts to You.
‘But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. ‘ Jer. 17:7
We lift up to You all those who preach your word faithfully, protect them and guide them. We know that your word is powerful, that faith comes from hearing your word, so we ask for your blessing on all those who work for your kingdom. May your kingdom come into being here on earth.
