DIOCESE Praying Together: for children returning to school

Dear Heavenly Father, we pray for all those returning to or starting a new school this coming September. Be with them through all the joys and in any challenges. Offer them the guidance needed and let them see your Grace in every aspect of this new adventure. Amen.

‘You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts You.’ Isaiah 26:3

Almighty God, as we start a new academic year, we pray that it will be a year full of promise. Please give all students courage and strength to overcome the challenges that come their way. Help them to make wise decisions that will have positive outcomes, may they stay focused on the task at hand.

We pray for all teachers, give them wisdom and insight, bring peace, joy and contentment into their lives. Give all in a teaching role the understanding of the importance of building up confidence, trust and perseverance. Help them to recognise those who are struggling whether academically, socially or emotionally. Let this be a year of blessing for all in education. Build friendships, acceptance and understanding… You are present in every life, in every situation if we only come to know You. Please, Lord, be with all involved in teaching and learning.

‘Let us then approach God’s throne of Grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find Grace to help us in our time of need.’ Hebrews 4:16

Lord, we come to You to pray for all those afflicted by natural disasters- floods, drought, fires, by poverty, conflict. We lift up to you all leaders whose decisions and policies impact the lives of millions around the world. We pray that Your Holy Spirit will fill these leaders, that they will listen to the voce of the oppressed, the impoverished and the vulnerable. Father, so many people don’t have a voice, often the poorest and most helpless. Please raise up men and women who will speak out where they see injustice and hardship. Give us the desire to be generous with our time, aid, money, prayers to make the world a better place. May Your church work together with urgency to bring hope and renewal to the world.

We pray for St. Nic’s as we seek a new incumbent. We give thanks for all those who are working to lead us during the Interregnum. Help us to be open to the leading of Your Spirit, give us ears to hear what You are saying to us and the courage to follow where You lead.  As we seek a new leader, we pray that You are already preparing the right person to come into our midst. You know the needs we have, our strengths and weaknesses and we await eagerly for the post to be filled.
