Weekly Update – 1st February

Endings and Beginnings

16 years of Fiona Higgs as the Children, Families & Schools Minister, St Nicholas Church, Allington. WOW 😊😊😊. And what a ride. I dare not list all the achievements that have come from Fiona in this role, for fear of missing many off. One thing that I know will be echoed at St Nicholas Church, the Allington and Maidstone community, is that Fiona will be surely and sorely missed.

Through the pain of Fiona going, we should also remember that this is a great opportunity in her life, as she discerns what next.

When the LORD spoke to Abram (Genesis 12:1) and told him to leave the land he knew as home, his father’s household and go to a land that the LORD would show him, he simply trusted in the LORD. Yet, I’m sure there were times when he simply didn’t understand what the LORD was up to and no doubt questioned if he had indeed heard from the LORD or if he had made a mistake.

All nations of the world are being blessed today because of Abraham (Genesis 12:3).

As I look around the church and within the community, I realise that you are all part of the legacy that Fiona leaves behind. Let’s make it a good legacy by sharing the love for Christ, creativity and a heart of passion for Maidstone that Fiona has modelled to you over the last 16 years. We are that legacy, Fiona now leaves behind, so let’s do something with it.
